STAR EFFICIENCY FOR NEW HOMES IN VICTORIA:

A 5 Star energy rating for building fabric plus water savings measures, and either a rain water tank or a solar hot water service.

OPTION 1: 5 Star energy efficiency rating on the building fabric plus water saving measures and a solar hot water system.
OPTION 2: 5 Star energy efficiency rating on the building fabric plus water saving measures and rain water tanks.

Extension now applicable to the following building types:

An extension of the current transitional arrangements until 30 April 2006 has been granted to the following building types:

  • Homes with a timber floor construction Timber floors PDF
  • Mud brick homes
  • Relocatable homes

The Building Commission has issued a Practice Note for building industry professionals on the implementation of Victoria 's new 5-Star standard. The Practice Note details how to comply with the 5 Star standard.

MAY 2006: The latest Practice Note for the Victorian 5 Star standard for new houses and apartments has been published by the Building Commission. Practice Note 2006-55 Residential Sustainability Measures includes the details of the recently announced 12 month extension of the three transition options for timber sub-floor homes to 30 April 2007:

The Plumbing Industry Commission have released a Technical Solution for complying with the standard by installing a solar hot water service.
