BIO PAINTS AND PRODUCTS

Bio Products are environmentally sound and responsible, using non-toxic ingredients that are acquired without over-exploitation of nature and are biodegradable. The aim of Bio Products is to provide a healthy alternative to conventional paints and to minimise the damage to our natural environment.

WHY USE BIO PRODUCTS?

  • Low Allergy
  • Non-Toxic
  • Breathing Walls - Bio Products don't seal the walls, which prevents any build-up of mildew
  • Free of dangerous solvents such as toluene & xylene
  • Durability & Hiding Power - Bio Products have been tested by the Australian Defence Department Materials Testing Laboratory and meets the Australian Standard AS 1580
  • No chemical preservatives

PRODUCT RANGE

Builders, painters, architects and the general consumer can select products for:

  • Timber preservation
  • Timber sealing & protection
  • Floor sealing
  • Wall paint
  • Adhesives for cork & tiles
  • Cleaning
Approximate Coverage m2 per litre
Wall Paints  10
Enamel Lacquers  8-12
Colour Varnishes  10-12
Clear Varnishes  15-18
Wood Oils  8-12
Waxes  40-100

Each of the Bio Products has been individually tested to ensure that it produces a high quality finish, but remember that the blend of ingredients is unique, therefore please follow the application instructions carefully.

Bio Products should be applied in the traditional way. That is, apply them thinly as it strengthens the bond between the surface and the product, and also shortens the drying time. You'll find that Bio drying times are longer than chemically based products as they don't contain any poisonous drying agents such as lead. Better results are achieved with 2 - 3 thin coats, rather than one thick coat.

FACTS ON CONVENTIONAL PAINT

There is alarming evidence that the biological effects of many conventional paint ingredients result in physical and mental health problems. The Painters Hazard Handbook identifies five main areas of concern:

Reproductive hazards, cancer, lung diseases (asthma & bronchitis), skin diseases (contact dermatitis), and painters syndrome (permanent damage to the brain).

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PRODUCT

  • Measure the area to be painted. It is best to measure the surface area in m2.
  • Decide on the finish that you would like, whether it is gloss, matt, wax, oil....
  • Be a bit flexible. Bio Products are based on organic & natural ingredients, so there will be some variation between batches.
  • Check stock availability in advance to avoid disappointment.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT TOOLS

It is recommended for Bio Wall Paint:

  • To use a lambs wool roller with rounded edges.
  • If mixed with pigments to use a proper paint mixing tool

All high quality paint accessories now available at Going Solar.
