Solar Hot Water Rebate
Solar Hot water systems are eligible for an Sustainability Victoria rebate or Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
The Solar Hot Water rebate Program has been designed to provide rebates for solar heaters that replace conventional systems for a positive environmental effect in residential households.
Changes to the Solar Hot Water Rebate:
Existing home owners are eligible for a rebate of up to $1500 for installations of solar hot water that are not eligible for Recs.
The Sustainability Victoria Solar Hot Water Rebate is no longer available for new homes or for system installations that are eligible for Renewable Energy Certificate (RECs). RECs are a form of 'currency' created by the Commonwealth Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2001.
The more energy efficient the system, the higher your Sustainability Victoria Rebate or (Renewable Energy Certificate) REC amount will be.

Victorian Solar Innovation Initiative (VSII)
Existing community facilities (such as schools, kindergartens, childcare and community health centres) may be eligible for a government grant of up to $100,000 matched dollar for dollar. They will need to demonstrate the innovative use of solar energy design and technology when a building is upgraded. Only certain solar technologies are acceptable under this scheme and some solar technologies are specifically excluded. Going Solar Projects can assist in identifying suitable project sites and appropriate technologies. We can also assist in the application process. Going Solar can act as your sustainable champion. It is important however to bring us in at the earliest possible stage.
