An amazing artistic visual display! This showcase solar canopy installation shows that innovative design and a collaborative approach can create an interesting and attractive structure – in this case one that you can walk around and physically touch – a feature not typically available with rooftop installations.
This solar system is seen by parents, teachers, students and other visitors as they enter the primary school. It not only features the PV panels but demonstrates that with careful design, solar can be installed in both a pleasing and functional manner. Perhaps the key point is that the location – a primary school – communicates to the young students (and the wider community) that solar is a normal part of their future.
Going Solar is proud to win the 2014 CEC Best Installation Award (under 15kW) for this cutting-edge solar canopy and would like to acknowledge the architectural project team at Baldasso Cortese:
Steve Cortese- Design Director
Hal Cutting - Educational Consultant
Dev Mistry- Design Architect
David Choate - Project Architect
Konrad Schaller- Documentation
The team at the construction and management company, Magellan Projects, were also a pleasure to work with. And while we're celebrating, we would also like to thank Martin Brown, Applications Engineer at ZepSolar.
